We had a blast at our Teeny Tiny Turtles on the Tar event. Thank you to everyone that attended, adopted turtles and supported our event. Here are a couple of photos from the event. On August 19th, our Boys & Girls Club hosted a Lunch & Learn for our first-year teachers at the Rocky Mount Event Center. Over 100 first-year teachers, administrators, principals and superintendents from Nash County Public Schools, Edgecombe County Public Schools and Rocky Mount Prep received invitations to join the event. The attendees enjoyed networking with other teachers, fun ice breaker activities, three panels, an inspirational message, lunch and a chance to enjoy the Game Zone at the event center. Teachers in the audience had an opportunity to ask specific questions to our club members, parents in the community and our clubhouse staff professionals that can help not only them, but our youth have a successful school year. We hope that our first-year teachers left with inspiration, first-hand insight and new tools to make this the best year. Each year community leaders in the Twin Counties come together at the Annual Steak & Burger Dinner to raise funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region. During the event designed to honor our young people, adults dine on burgers while Club members receive a steak dinner. This is a unique and often first-time treat for our young guests. This evening not only provides an opportunity for donors to interact with Clubs kids, but it also provides the opportunity to present special awards. Experience first-hand the impact the Club is making on the lives of children in the Twin Counties. Save the date and stay tuned for more information. If you are interested in sponsoring and having a table at this event, please reach out to Desiree at ddolberry@bgcnec.org. Closing out a great Summer A big Thank You to our sponsors of the Summer Celebration, Rocky Mount Toyota and Grow Financial Federal Credit Union. At the Summer Celebration,120 club members could celebrate their academic success from the previous school year. The club members from all three of our clubhouses started the day having a blast skating at Star City Skate & Play. Next, we headed to our LABB Clubhouse in Rocky Mount, and Tre Turner of Rocky Mount Toyota was there with the grill! He made sure our members had a wonderful cookout. To close out, our friends at Grow Financial Federal Credit Union gave each member a gift for their accomplishments. Once again, we would like to thank those who contributed to the celebration.
