At the beginning of August, a group of our Club members were inspired to help make a difference in the lives of youth in their community. This all started with the Rocky Mount Rotary Club making its announcement to celebrate its 100th Anniversary by providing 100 beds to kids in the community through the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Organization (NC-Rocky Mount – Sleep in Heavenly Peace (shpbeds.org)).

To kickstart their cause, our Club members launched a grassroots video and a social media campaign in August, with the goal of raising $1,000 by the end of August. This sum would have enabled them to fund the construction of five beds, impacting the lives of several children in the community.

However, the response from the community was overwhelming. By the end of the campaign, our Club members had not only met but exceeded their target, gathering a total of $1,600 in donations. This generous support allowed them to provide eight beds to deserving kids, offering them a secure and comfortable place to rest.

On September 30th our Club members made their campaign full circle by showing up to help build the beds they raised funds for. At the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region, we believe in the power of giving back. As a non-profit organization right here in our community, it’s important to us that we support those in need as well.

Our campaign, “Kids Helping Kids,” began in August, and we are thrilled with how everything came together. From fundraising to building beds, our Club members made a real difference in the lives of youth in the Twin Counties.
