We’re excited to announce that Turtle Adoptions are officially open for our Teeny Tiny Turtles on the Tar event!

This beloved tradition will take place on Saturday, September 6th at the Rocky Mount Mills campus, where 2,000 rubber turtles will race from the Peachtree Street Bridge to the finish line—all to benefit the youth we serve across Nash and Edgecombe Counties.

But before the race can begin, these turtles need homes! Your adoption directly supports our mission to serve more than 1,800 Club members in the Twin Counties, helping them reach their full potential.
We’re up to the challenge, and we know you are too. You can purchase your turtles today by clicking the following link: https://www.duckrace.com/rockymount Also, you can always support your favorite teams! This year we have the following teams you can support by using the below links:
Bankin’ on Franklin, First Carolina Bank’s Team:

We just wanted to give a shoutout to the amazing team at First Carolina Banks who have been such great supporters of our organization. Did you know that they have a goal of selling 500 Turtles? And the best part is, they’ve won top team sellers every year! It’s always inspiring to see such dedicated and passionate individuals working towards a common goal.

Remember, for each turtle you purchase, you have a chance to win as well! 1st place wins $500, 2nd place wins $250 and 3rd place wins $100. Once all the turtles are sold, they will be dropped from the Peachtree Street Bridge at the Rocky Mount Mills campus (don’t worry, no turtles are harmed during this event).

On September 6th, our community is coming together to watch the turtles cross the Tar River. It’s going to be such a fun event, and the best part is that it’s completely free! We’d love for you to join us if you can make it. But if you can’t, don’t worry! We’ll be streaming the entire event live on Facebook, so you won’t miss a thing.

After the race is over, we DO NOT leave the remaining rubber turtles in the Tar River to pollute our waterways. Part of what makes this event so fun, and a community effort is members of the Rocky Mount Fire Department water rescue unit take charge of the turtles once they hit the water.

For more information on the event or adopting turtles, please contact Desiree at ddolberry@bgcnec.org.
