May is Mental Health Awareness Month. At the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region, we make sure that all club members are at or above grade level, practicing good character and citizenship and living healthy lifestyles.

A big part of making sure our club members are prepared for the future is making sure they are living a healthy lifestyle, which includes feeling good about their mental and emotional well-being. Youth can continue to have good grades and have positive relationships with peers when they feel good about themselves.

We were excited to have our club members attend the Rural Opportunity Institute’s Youth Resilience retreat. At the retreat, several of our club members participated in a four-day opportunity where each day they learned things to help them grow such as yoga to destress, learning how to articulate their emotions, enjoying nature walks, and having fun while learning new techniques to improve their lives.

A huge thank you to the team at Rural Opportunity Institute for allowing our club members the opportunity to enjoy the retreat.
