The Aaron’s Company, a leading omnichannel provider of lease-purchase solutions, announced the completion of its teen center refresh at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region, delivering and installing more than $20,000 worth of new products as part of the project.
Through a partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, local Aaron’s associates completed the entire transformation on Monday at Lucy Ann Boddie Brewer Clubhouse, which included $20,000 worth of furniture, arcade games, giant TVs, computers and gaming systems. The driving force behind the refresh was the teens themselves, as they were given the full $20,000 budget to choose the items they felt would create the most engaging space for themselves and other youth in the community. “Our teens are our future, so it fills us with pride to give back in a way that has such a direct impact during this critical stretch of their development,” said Michael Wall, senior director of corporate affairs for Aaron’s. “Serving the communities that support us is a critical part of what we do, so our team was thrilled to complete this project and create a lasting impact in the Rocky Mount community.”
The renovation is the 66th nationwide performed by Aaron’s since 2015 – part of more than an $11 million commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of America during that time. The goal of the project is to boost membership and provide teens with a safe, healthy environment they can call their own. Aaron’s funding also supports the implementation of its Trauma-Informed approach to youth development, an initiative that creates tools and resources to improve Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s organizational development.
“Teens who participate in Boys & Girls Club programs consistently perform better both in school and the community, and this refreshed space gives us a boost in retaining current members and recruiting new young people to our Club,” said Ron Green, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region. “Thanks to Aaron’s, our teens have a state-of-the-art room to serve them as they develop skills that will lead to positive outcomes and successful futures, so we are extremely grateful.”
