Empowering Teen Leaders Through Keystone Club |
Something special happened at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region’s Corporate Office. Our teens—leaders in the making—gathered for their Keystone Club meeting, bringing their energy, ideas, and vision for the future right into the heart of our organization. Before the meeting kicked off, our CEO Ron Green took a moment to speak directly to the group. His message was simple but powerful: Make this the best Keystone Club yet. He reminded them that the Club exists to open doors—offering tools, experiences, and support to help them lead, grow, and dream bigger. Keystone Club is more than just a program—it’s a movement within our Movement. Designed for teens ages 14 to 18, Keystone empowers young people to explore leadership, prepare for careers, give back to their community, and pursue academic success. With support from trusted adult advisors, these teens are setting goals, building skills, and making a real impact—inside and outside the Club. Today’s meeting wasn’t just about planning; it was about possibility. Programs like Keystone give our teens a platform to lead and be heard. They’re not waiting for the future—they’re building it now. We’re proud to stand behind the next generation of changemakers—and we can’t wait for you to see what they accomplish this year. Because when you invest in youth leadership, you invest in stronger communities and brighter futures. |

Exploring the World- One Country at a Time |
At the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region, we believe in expanding young minds beyond the classroom. Recently, students in our 21st CCLC After School Program had the opportunity to take a journey around the world—without ever leaving their Club. Thanks to the support of Dr. Angie Arrington, Kimyarda Lawson, and other members of the Wilson-Rocky Mount-Tarboro Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, our students explored the vibrant culture of Mexico as part of a monthly global education series. From learning new phrases in Spanish to touching traditional artifacts, discovering iconic landmarks, and tasting authentic foods, Club members were immersed in the sights, sounds, and flavors of another country. These experiences spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and help our youth see themselves as part of a larger world. By celebrating different cultures, we build respect, awareness, and global thinking—skills that are just as important as reading or math. The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program is made possible through a federal grant awarded to Nash County Public Schools and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region. Serving students from Nashville, Spring Hope, Middlesex, and Bailey, this three-year initiative provides engaging, hands-on learning opportunities that help young people grow both academically and socially. |

Once a Club Kid, Always a Club. Celebrating the Class of 2025 |
We proudly celebrated the amazing young people from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region who are part of the graduating class of 2025. These Club members have worked hard, stayed focused, and grown into leaders—and we couldn’t be prouder. Graduation is more than a milestone. It’s a moment to recognize all the challenges they’ve overcome and the future they are stepping into with confidence. Whether they’ve been with us since age five or just joined recently, each of these seniors has left their mark. Special thanks to Club Alumni and Guest Speaker, Cooper Blackwell, who returned to share his story. Cooper’s message about pushing through obstacles and using the Boys & Girls Club as a foundation for success truly inspired everyone in the room. He reminded our graduates that no matter where life takes them, they’re always part of the Club family. To our seniors: Your journey is just beginning—and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way. Congratulations to the Class of 2025! |
